Little League International requires certain trainings for volunteers, coaches, and managers to ensure the safety and well-being of players and the effective operation of the league. All trainings and background checks are gone at no cost to volunteers. Here are the main training requirements for certain volunteers.
1. JDP Background Check
Required for: All volunteers over the age of 18, including coaches, team parents, and any individuals who will have repeated, direct contact with children.
Description: Volunteers must complete a background check as part of the registration process. This includes a Live Scan fingerprinting which CHLL will offer at an upcoming date TBD

When you apply to become a volunteer, you give CHLL the right to conduct necessary background checks.
A Volunteer Application must be filled out and submitted online every calendar year before you can volunteer
Pursuant to Little League International rules, all persons that will have repetitive contact with children or otherwise hold a supervisory position involving children will be required to first submit and pass a national background check. On rare occasions, Little League, through District Administrators and your local Board of Directors, may deny individuals the privilege of volunteering for reasons, past or present, that may be detrimental to the positive development of young people, other volunteers, and/or Little League International.
2. Child Abuse Awareness Training
Required for: All managers and coaches
Description: The safety and well-being of all participants in the Little League® program continues to be paramount and this course is required to be completed each year.
How to Complete: Click the link below. Create an account and select course "Abuse Awareness for Adults" to complete (approx. 30 minutes). Completion certificate must be printed and turned in.

3. Coaches Training
Required for: All coaches, managers at least every other year. At least one coach on every team must complete training in a given year.
Description: Training on coaching strategies, fundamentals and much more.
How to Complete: Complete an online training session through Big Al website (link will be provided to coaches once registered) or in person league clinics run by our coaching coordinator.

4. Concussion Awareness Training
Required for: Every All-Star Manager and Coach
Description: Coaches and volunteers must complete concussion awareness training as part of their responsibilities to ensure the safety of players. (approx. 30-minute course)
How to Complete: Complete an online training session on concussion awareness. Completion certificate must be printed and turned in.

5. Diamond Leader Training
Required for: Every All-Star manager and coach.
Description: The Little League Diamond Leader Training Program focuses on ensuring children have a positive, well-rounded experience on and off the field. (approx. 45 minutes course)
How to Complete: This course can be completed via Little League's website. Completion certificate must be printed and turned in.

6. Volunteer Orientation
Required for: All volunteers. Trainings will be separated by Roles ( ie. Team Parent Meeting, Coaches Clinic, Umpire etc. )
Description: Depending on the the role, various trainings and information sessions will be provided.
